Stoughton won the last time they faced Whitewater and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Vikings had just enough and edged out the Whippets 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Vikings have posted since September 28, 2024.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Stoughton who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 21-25, 15-10.

Emma Trautsch paced Stoughton's offense, picking up seven kills. Trautsch got some help from Ruby Randall and her 19 assists. Randall also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Makenna Angerhofer, racking up three apiece.

Stoughton has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. As for Whitewater, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Stoughton will square off against Shoreland Lutheran at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Whitewater, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Jefferson at 6:30 p.m. on September 16.
