Softball Recap: Waverly Tigers vs. Clay Panthers
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Zane Trace, Waverly was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They never let the Clay Panthers get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tigers also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2022.
The result came thanks to Lexi Smith's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Waverly's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ava Robertson, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base. That stolen base was Robertson's first of the season.
