Softball Game Preview: Myrtle Hawks vs. West Union Eagles

For the second straight game, Myrtle will face off against West Union. The Hawks will square off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Myrtle 2.7, West Union 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Myrtle heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Thursday. They fell just short of West Union by a score of 3-1. The Hawks' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Brooklyn Streich spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Myrtle saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cora Beth Kelly, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

West Union has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 21-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Myrtle, their defeat dropped their record down to 23-6.
