Volleyball Recap: Andover Golden Warriors vs. Franklin Panthers
Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Andover couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They came up short against the Franklin Panthers on Sunday, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Golden Warriors have suffered since October 8th.
While Andover was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-22, 25-8.
Jessie Wang paced Andover's offense, picking up nine kills. Wang got some help from Tina Zheng and her 18 assists. Wang was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.
Emma Cunningham was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had eight digs and four aces. That's the most aces she has posted since back in September.
Andover's defeat ended a four-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-5. As for Franklin, the win (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 21-2.
Andover does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Franklin, they will take on Newton South in a tournament on Wednesday.
