Softball Recap: Rappahannock Extends Winning Streak to Three

Rappahannock entered their tilt with Essex on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Trojans. The Raiders' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Avery Brann made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Kahler Goodman was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Johnson, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Rappahannock now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Essex, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-6.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Rappahannock beat the Trojans by a score of 26-2 on Thursday.
