Soccer Game Preview: North Pole vs. Kenai Central

North Pole is 0-3 against Kenai Central since April of 2019 but things could change on Saturday. The Patriots will take on the Kardinals at 8:00 a.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Saturday.

North Pole is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand Grace Christian a 4-0 shutout. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for North Pole considering their one-goal performance the match before.

Meanwhile, Kenai Central faced Monroe Catholic in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Kardinals put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 8-0 win. Considering Kenai Central have won five contests by more than three goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

With the victory, Kenai Central broke their five-match losing streak and moved their record to 8-8. As for North Pole, their win bumped their record up to 9-7-1.

North Pole might still be hurting after the 5-2 defeat they got from Kenai Central in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
