Baseball Recap: Hopkins' Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

Hopkins dropped their record down to 6-8 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Buffalo Bison. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bison this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 1-0 back in April.

As for Buffalo, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games.

For Buffalo's part, CALEB JOHNSON tossed a big game, tossing 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. What's more, JOHNSON posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on DOLEN BRISK, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. RILEY WEST was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Hopkins is set to square off against their familiar foe St. Michael-Albertville at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Royals 3.9, the Knights 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Buffalo will take on rival Eden Prairie at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
