Basketball Recap: Oceanside Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Oceanside unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 67-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Freeport Red Devils on Thursday. The Sailors' loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row dating back to last season.

Freeport was led to victory by Noah Patterson and Joshua Osei-Sefah. Patterson posted 21 points, while Osei-Sefah earned 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Richardson, who had seven points.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oceanside will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Freeport at 7:00 p.m. on January 24, 2025. Freeport will take on Hempstead in a holiday battle at at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
