Baseball Game Preview: Napoleon Wildcats vs. Evergreen Vikings

The Napoleon Wildcats will challenge the Evergreen Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Napoleon is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.

Napoleon's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They walked away with a 5-0 win over Patrick Henry.

The result came thanks to Trey Rubinstein's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Paul Sausser was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Woods, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Evergreen). They put the hurt on Hilltop with a sharp 19-5 victory on Friday. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Cadets recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Napoleon's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-5-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Evergreen, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
