Baseball Recap: Grosse Pointe South Comes Up Short

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Grosse Pointe South's offense. They fell just short of the L'Anse Creuse North Crusaders by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Crusaders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-0 on Monday.

Charlie Michelotti was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out 11 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

This is the second loss in a row for Grosse Pointe South and nudges their season record down to 15-8. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for L'Anse Creuse North, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 20-8.

Coming up, Grosse Pointe South will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against De La Salle Collegiate at 4:30 p.m. L'Anse Creuse North will be paying especially close attention to the Blue Devils' contest: after the Blue Devils face off against the Pilots, they'll take on L'Anse Creuse North again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
