Basketball Recap: Verdigris Takes a Loss

Verdigris was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 73-52 to the Miami Wardogs. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 54-44 back in December of 2024.

Miami found their leader in freshman Lane Walther, who went 9 for 16 on his way to 26 points and seven boards. Those seven rebounds gave Walther a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Waike Roblyer, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards.

Verdigris' loss dropped their record down to 0-15. As for Miami, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.

Verdigris has already played their next game (against Skiatook), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Miami will take on Oologah at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Miami is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.8 points per game this season.
