Football Recap: Spruce Creek Takes Down West Port in a Playoff Battle

Spruce Creek had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They enjoyed a cozy 27-12 win over the West Port Wolf Pack on Wednesday. The final result isn't all the surprising considering the Hawks' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Wolf Pack are ranked 108th).

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Spruce Creek's defense and their four sacks. Zion Willis was especially locked on to West Port's QB and sacked her twice. Willis is crushing it when it comes to sacks: she's posted at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

The victory keeps Spruce Creek at an undefeated 15-0. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 3.0 points on average this season. As for West Port, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.

Spruce Creek didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 27-7 victory against DeLand on the 16th. As for West Port, they will head out on the road to take on Apopka at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blue Darters will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
