Baseball Recap: Wabash Gets the Win

Wabash was handed a nine-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Logansport Berries. This was payback for the Apaches, who suffered an 8-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Haiden McWhirt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Derek Reed was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Treyce Daughtry, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

With the victory, Wabash broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 17-5. As for Logansport, their loss dropped their record down to 12-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wabash will host Whitko at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Apaches' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Logansport, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Rochester at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
