It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but St. Augustine had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past the Grossmont Foothillers 45-20. The Saints' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Paisios Polamalu had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 263 yards and five TDs while picking up 9.4 yards per carry, and also picking up 67 receiving yards and one score. Those five rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: St. Augustine was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 345 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

St. Augustine didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Polamalu and Austin Lambeth. Polamalu also punched in five rushing touchdowns, which is notable because St. Augustine is 5-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 0-5 otherwise.

St. Augustine pushed their record up to 5-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.3 points over those games. As for Grossmont, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-2.

Looking ahead, St. Augustine will take on Santa Fe Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' defense has only allowed 11.1 points per game this season, so the Saints' offense will have their work cut out for them. Grossmont does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
