Basketball Recap: Macksville Comes Up Short

Macksville and Kiowa County squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Macksville had to settle for second. They took a 64-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kiowa County Mavericks. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mavericks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2020.

Despite the loss, Macksville still got an impressive performance from Diego Esparza, who went 13-for-28 to rack up 35 points and four steals. The match was Esparza's 30th in a row with at least 15 points. Hector Gomez was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Macksville's defeat dropped their record down to 16-6. As for Kiowa County, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-4.
