Basketball Game Preview: Ropes Eagles vs. Sundown Roughnecks

The Ropes Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Sundown Roughnecks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

On Tuesday, Ropes came up short against Plains and fell 61-50. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Cowboys: they've now lost eight in a row.

Meanwhile, Sundown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They lost to Seagraves on the road by a 51-37 margin.

Ropes will need focus on slowing down Nathan McAdams, one of several Sundown players who made an impact when they last played. He went 5 for 8 on his way to 10 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Briar Miller, who posted 12 points.

Sundown's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Ropes, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 9-5.

Everything came up roses for Ropes against Sundown in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 78-34 victory. Will Ropes repeat their success, or does Sundown have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
