Baseball Recap: East Starts Season with Win Against Leetonia

East gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. Everything went their way against the Leetonia Bears as East made off with a 12-2 win. East not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 28, 2024.

Francisco Rodriguez Santos made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Rodriguez Santos was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Yadiel Lopez, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. Another player making a difference was Abimael Torres, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East will host Lowellville at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Leetonia, they will take on East at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
