Basketball Game Preview: Oneida Baptist Institute Mountaineers vs. Wolfe County Wolves

The Oneida Baptist Institute Mountaineers will challenge the Wolfe County Wolves at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Thursday, Oneida Baptist Institute ended up a good deal behind Knox Central and lost 87-71. The loss continues a trend for the Mountaineers in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost six in a row.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wolfe County). They took down Letcher County Central 84-70 on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolves.

Wolfe County is also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.8 points per game. As for Oneida Baptist Institute, they now have a losing record at 7-8.

Oneida Baptist Institute suffered a grim 75-51 defeat to Wolfe County when the teams last played back in February of 2020. Can Oneida Baptist Institute avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
