Softball Recap: Bethlehem Central Gets the Win

The Bethlehem Central Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Chatham Panthers on Thursday.

Molly Campbell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bethlehem Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katherine Sauders, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Bethlehem Central has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Chatham, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-2.

Looking ahead, Bethlehem Central will face off against Niskayuna at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Chatham, they will square off against Catskill at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
