Softball Game Preview: Morgantown Mohigans vs. University Hawks

For the second straight game, Morgantown will face off against University. The Mohigans will challenge the Hawks at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Morgantown is on a four-game streak of home wins, University a 17-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season), meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.

Morgantown is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of West Virginia's top teams: University, who was ranked seventh at the time (Morgantown was ranked eighth). The Mohigans fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 4-3 on Monday. The Mohigans' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

MADISON WISMAN spent all 8.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, ANNE ROBINSON made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.

University has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches. That somehow still isn't as good as their 22-5-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Morgantown, their loss dropped their record down to 20-10.
