Baseball Recap: Wheeler Comes Up Short

Wheeler was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Portsmouth Abbey Ravens. The Warriors were not able to make up for their defeat to the Ravens from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

Conrad Fox and Evren Ozbek stepped up to the plate in a big way. Fox went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Ozbek went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Ozbek is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played.

Wheeler's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Portsmouth Abbey, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wheeler will take on Tolman at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Portsmouth Abbey, they will challenge Thayer Academy at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Ravens' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
