Basketball Recap: Stephenson Find Success

After losing to Riverdale the last time they met, Stephenson decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Stephenson Jaguars snuck past the Riverdale Raiders with a 53-48 win on Saturday.

Riverdale lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jaylen Allen, who posted 14 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Alpha Soumah, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 14 rebounds.

Stephenson's victory bumped their record up to 7-14. As for Riverdale, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-11.

Stephenson will be playing at home against Cedar Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cedar Grove will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something Stephenson surely won't give up without a fight. As for Riverdale, they will head out on the road to take on Mt. Zion at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Riverdale is facing Mt. Zion at the right time seeing as Mt. Zion is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
