Softball Recap: Delavan Sets Scoring Season-High Against Hartsburg-Emden

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Delavan). They never let the Hartsburg-Emden Stags get on the board and left with a 16-0 win on Tuesday. The Panthers not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 6, 2024.

Lainey Klokkenga made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Kara Lowry and Addi Fisher did most of the damage at the plate: Lowry scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2, while Fisher scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs Fisher has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Miley Harper, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Delavan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.

Delavan's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Hartsburg-Emden, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Delavan will head out on the road to take on Brimfield at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hartsburg-Emden, they will welcome Tri-City at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
