Football Game Preview: Avonworth Antelopes vs. North Catholic Trojans

Avonworth and North Catholic are an even 3-3 against one another since September of 2016, but not for long. The Antelopes will head out on the road to challenge the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Avonworth is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Avonworth is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past McGuffey 49-0 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Antelopes, who have now won seven matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.

Avonworth relied on the efforts of Dimitri Velisaris, who rushed for 68 yards and two TDs, and Carson Bellinger, who threw for 114 yards and three touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Bellinger a new career-high in passer rating (166.7).

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but North Catholic ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 49-42 win over Beaver. The score was all tied up 21-21 at the break, but the Trojans were the better team in the second half.

Avonworth's record is now 8-0. As for North Catholic, their record now sits at 6-2.

Avonworth took their victory against North Catholic in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 48-28 score. In that contest, the Antelopes amassed a halftime lead of 35-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
