Baseball Recap: Ten Straight Home Wins for Picayune

Picayune had already won four in a row and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They blew past the Pillow Academy Mustangs 8-2. The result was nothing new for the Maroon Tide, who have now won five matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Kendall Blevins tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Picayune let Cooper Moreaux and Turner Pugh run wild. Moreaux scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Pugh scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance gave Pugh a new career-high in stolen bases. Mason Ruble was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Picayune always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pillow Academy only posted an OBP of .357.

Picayune pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Pillow Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Coming up, Picayune will take on St. Martin in a tournament on Friday. As for Pillow Academy, they will welcome Heritage Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The contest will give Heritage Academy their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season.
