Baseball Game Preview: Woodstock Blue Streaks vs. Belvidere Bucs

The Woodstock Blue Streaks will challenge the Belvidere Bucs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Woodstock has given up an average of 9.6 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Woodstock's last matchup with Aurora Central Catholic could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Thursday. The Blue Streaks lost 12-2 to the Chargers. The Blue Streaks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Woodstock saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Rodriguez, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Max Haggerty also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Belvidere didn't have quite enough to beat Rochelle on Friday and fell 11-10. Even though they lost, the Bucs' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.4 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Paul Stark made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Frankie Freeman, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

Woodstock's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Belvidere, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Everything went Woodstock's way against Belvidere in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Woodstock made off with a 20-9 victory. Will the Blue Streaks repeat their success, or do the Bucs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
