Softball Recap: Midview Wins Going Away Against Rocky River

Midview saw some tournament action on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Rocky River Pirates. The Middies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Savannah Holcomb made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk). Holcomb was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

In other batting news, Nina Ballachino was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Dezirae Thomas was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Midview lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Midview's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Rocky River, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season.

Midview does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rocky River, they will square off against Normandy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Invaders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.94 runs per game on average), something the Pirates will no doubt try to take advantage of.
