Volleyball Recap: George Washington Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Herbert Hoover

George Washington faced Herbert Hoover in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Patriots took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Huskies. The defeat continues a trend for the Patriots in their meetings with the Huskies: they've now lost three in a row.

George Washington was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-23.

Zo? Pray paced George Washington's offense, picking up eight kills. Pray got some help from Ali Arbogast and her ten assists. Julia Martino controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Herbert Hoover got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kylie Hackney out in front who had nine digs and nine assists. Lilli Lancaster was another key player, getting 11 assists and six digs.

George Washington's loss dropped their record down to 20-11-5. As for Herbert Hoover, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 37-4-1.

Coming up, George Washington will square off against Mount Hope Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Herbert Hoover, they will take on Bridgeport at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
