Softball Recap: Miller Takes a Loss

Miller had lost ten straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 3-29 to make it 11. They came up short against the Carroll Tigers, falling 17-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 21-0 back in March.

As for Carroll, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-7-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games.

For Carroll's part, Ali Ann Deleon looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Deleon has posted since back in February.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Avery Sauceda, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Zoe Caballero, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Miller didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 15-0 defeat against Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial on the 17th. As for Carroll, they have also already played their next game, an 11-0 win against Ray on the 17th.
