Volleyball Recap: Hannibal Pirates vs. Westminster Christian Wildcats

After flying high against Kirksville last Thursday, Hannibal came back down to earth. The Hannibal Pirates fell just short of the Westminster Christian Wildcats by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. The matchup marked the Pirates' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Hannibal actually scored more points across those three sets (63-62), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-23, 17-15.

Westminster Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rachel Buchanan, who had 13 digs. Buchanan is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in the last five games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Vivian Sharlow, who had seven digs and 15 assists.

Hannibal's loss dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Westminster Christian, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-5-2.

Hannibal didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 win vs. North Point on the 28th. Westminster Christian has also already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Liberty on the 28th.
