Basketball Recap: Riverside Takes a Loss

Riverside came up into this matchup off a tough 40-point defeat last Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Scott Skyhawks by a score of 54-52 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Warriors have suffered since January 13th.

Despite the loss, Riverside still got an impressive performance from Josh Brock, who went 8-for-17 on his way to 22 points and six steals. Those six steals gave Brock a new career-high. Auric Booker was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Scott got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Wyatt Edwards out in front who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Edwards is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 57% in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tyler Walls, who went 6-for-10 to rack up 15 points.

Riverside is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-15. As for Scott, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.

Coming up, Riverside will venture away from home to square off against Capital at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Riverside is facing Capital at the right time seeing as Capital is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Scott, they will welcome Buffalo at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Buffalo is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.6 points per game this season.
