Softball Game Preview: Floyd County Buffaloes vs. James River Knights

The Floyd County Buffaloes will head out to face off against the James River Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Friday, Floyd County made easy work of Carroll County and carried off a 9-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Buffaloes in their matchups with the Cavaliers: they've now won four in a row.

Emma Biesterveld spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kyra Vaughn, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Lilly Mier-Gillispie also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, James River got the win against Glenvar on Tuesday by a conclusive 17-7.

Floyd County's record is now 12-3. As for James River, their record now sits at 14-3.

Floyd County couldn't quite finish off James River in their previous meeting back in April and fell 6-4. Can the Buffaloes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
