Preview: Hilliard Darby Panthers vs. Dublin Scioto Irish
The Hilliard Darby Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Dublin Scioto Irish at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hilliard Darby is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
Hilliard Darby's 17-6 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell 46-37 to Westerville Central on Friday. While losing is never fun, Hilliard Darby can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 279th, while Westerville Central is ranked 106th).
Meanwhile, Dublin Scioto didn't have too much trouble with Westerville North on the road on Friday as they won 44-28. The win was just what Dublin Scioto needed coming off of a 74-42 loss in their prior matchup.
Dublin Scioto can attribute much of their success to Jayla Collins, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 17 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Collins scored 15 or more points. Lyla Magnussen was another key contributor, scoring six points along with nine rebounds.
Hilliard Darby has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Dublin Scioto, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Hilliard Darby didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Dublin Scioto in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 39-34 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hilliard Darby since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
