Recap: Cypress Lake Panthers vs. Estero Wildcats
Even though the Cypress Lake Panthers have not done well against the Estero Wildcats recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Cypress Lake skirted past Estero 41-38. The win made it back-to-back wins for Cypress Lake.
Cypress Lake's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brigitte Maillakakis led the charge by scoring ten points. Maillakakis continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kylie Anderson, who scored eight points.
Despite the defeat, Estero saw an underclassman step up: Amiya Lewis scored 17 points along with nine rebounds. Lewis scored a full 44.7% of Estero's points, the 12th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rayne Woods, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Cypress Lake's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Estero, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-5.
Cypress Lake will be playing in front of their home fans against Island Coast at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Estero, they will head out on the road to face off against Palmetto Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
