Volleyball Recap: Mayfield Comes Up Short + How To Watch

After flying high against Hadley Luzerne on Monday, Mayfield came back down to earth. The Panthers took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fonda-Fultonville Valley Hawks on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Valley Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 on September 6th.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Fonda-Fultonville scored at least 17 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-23, 23-25, 25-17, 25-21.

Onaleah Egelston had an outrageously good game for Fonda-Fultonville as she had 18 digs, ten kills, and four aces. With that strong performance, Egelston is now averaging an impressive 2.2 aces per game. Another player making a difference was Sidnee Linart, who had 11 digs and six kills.

Mayfield's loss dropped their record down to 3-7-3. As for Fonda-Fultonville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3-2.

Mayfield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Broadalbin-Perth on the 24th. As for Fonda-Fultonville, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against Schoharie on the 25th.
