Baseball Recap: Woodlan Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Woodlan waltzed into their match on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Central Noble Cougars. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-3 on Saturday.

Ethan Trygg and Ben Delagrange dominated on the mound. Trygg tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit, while Delagrange pitched four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, Delagrange posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Drew Fleek, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

Woodlan's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-13. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Central Noble, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

Looking ahead, Woodlan will head out on the road to square off against Fremont at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. As for Central Noble, they will square off against Lakewood Park Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
