Softball Game Preview: Chippewa Chipps vs. Norton Panthers

The Chippewa Chipps will venture away from home to face off against the Norton Panthers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Chippewa will be strutting in after a victory while Norton will be coming in after a defeat.

Chippewa barely beat Rittman the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Chipps were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Indians on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chipps.

EMMA SCRITCHFIELD spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on TOURA SPEEGLE, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

Norton kicked off their season on the road on Thursday and hit a couple of potholes. They lost 18-1 to Field. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Norton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Calo, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Chippewa now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Norton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

Chippewa suffered a grim 25-13 defeat to Norton in their previous meeting back in May of 2019. Can the Chipps avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
