Softball Game Preview: Justin Garza Guardians vs. Hoover Patriots

The Justin Garza Guardians will face off against the Hoover Patriots at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Justin Garza is headed into the game having just posted their biggest win since April 16, 2024 on Thursday. They put the hurt on Golden Valley with a sharp 9-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Guardians.

Riley Nason was a standout: she scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Lydia Rivera, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Hoover gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They never let Washington Union get on the board and left with a 2-0 win.
