Basketball Game Preview: Laney Buccaneers vs. North Myrtle Beach Chiefs

The Laney Buccaneers will head out on the road to face off against the North Myrtle Beach Chiefs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Laney is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

If North Myrtle Beach heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Laney took over last week. Laney came out on top against Ashley by a score of 44-33 on Friday. The 44-point effort marked the Buccaneers' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Colin Lamb continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 8 for 16 on his way to 19 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Avery Pruitt, who posted nine points.

Laney smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, North Myrtle Beach's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Loris by a score of 53-50. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Chiefs have suffered since February 6th.

Laney's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for North Myrtle Beach, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 4-2.

Laney was able to grind out a solid victory over North Myrtle Beach when the teams last played last Wednesday, winning 65-54. The rematch might be a little tougher for Laney since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
