Basketball Recap: Sands Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Sands won the last time they faced Pecos and things went their way on Thursday too. The Sands Mustangs took down the Pecos Eagles 54-39. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while the Eagles are ranked 1456th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sands' win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Pecos, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Buena Vista the next time they take the court. Pecos will head out to face Buena Vista at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Sands will head out to face them at 11:45 a.m. on Friday.
