Baseball Game Preview: Ralston Valley Mustangs vs. Bear Creek Bears

For the second straight game, Ralston Valley will face off against Bear Creek. The Mustangs will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Bears at 11:00 a.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ralston Valley has three straight wins, Bear Creek has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Ralston Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over Bear Creek on Thursday. The Mustangs not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 30, 2024.

Winston Patterson looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Ralston Valley is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Degan Gregory was a standout: he scored two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cole Pfeifer, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Ralston Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bear Creek only managed three hits.

Bear Creek's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Ralston Valley, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
