The Concord Academy Eagles will head out to square off against the Cannon Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Concord Academy is headed out to face Cannon after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Everything went the Eagles' way against Victory Christian Center on Tuesday as they made off with a 72-48 win. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Kings: they've now won five in a row.

Concord Academy found their leader in sophomore Justice Alexander, who posted 24 points and five boards. Alexander's big performance that evening made it 17 games in a row in which she has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Taylor Smith, who put up six points along with 13 assists and five rebounds.

Concord Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Cannon's strategy against Forsyth Country Day on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Cougars blew the Furies out of the water with a 75-43 final score. With the Cougars ahead 42-18 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Everything came up roses for Concord Academy against Cannon when the teams last played back in November of 2016, as the team secured a 76-18 win. In that matchup, the Eagles amassed a halftime lead of 46-10, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
