Football Recap: King Gets the Win + How To Watch

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Spoto, King was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over the Sickles Gryphons. The Lions' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Evens Darcueil had a dynamite game, rushing for 180 yards while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Those 180 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

King's run defense was locked in: Sickles could only muster 2.9 yards per carry. The Lions' ground attack was stronger, having averaged 5.2.

King's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Sickles, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

King and Sickles could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. The Lions (ranked 530th) will meet Blake (ranked 216th) at 7:30 p.m. on October 3. Meanwhile, Sickles will face off against Wharton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (501 vs. 154).
