Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Edward). Everything went their way against the Aurora Christian Eagles on Wednesday as they made off with a 16-9 victory. The Green Wave haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Sarah Gurley was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs, two triples, and three RBI. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Fitzpatrick, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

St. Edward always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

St. Edward pushed their record up to 7-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Aurora Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Edward will face off against Montini Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Aurora Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bishop McNamara at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Fightin' Irish's pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
