Baseball Recap: Floresville Takes a Loss

Floresville fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against La Vernia on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bears by a score of 5-4.

Floresville saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Hawn, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Hawn has posted over his last 12 matches. Coy Mainz also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Floresville's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for La Vernia, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Floresville will be playing in front of their home fans against Uvalde at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Floresville's pitchers better be ready for this one: Uvalde has averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for La Vernia, they will head out to take on San Antonio Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be La Vernia's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
