Soccer Recap: Mt. Vernon Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Homestead

Mt. Vernon faced Homestead in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Marauders came up short against the Spartans, falling 10-1. Things were pretty much settled by the half as Mt. Vernon were already down 7-0.

Their goal came courtesy of Jaicee Cole, who's now up to three this season.

Mt. Vernon's loss dropped their record down to 3-1-1. As for Homestead, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Mt. Vernon didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next match, a 4-0 win against Shelbyville on the 2nd. As for Homestead, they will head out to square off against Warsaw at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
