AA Region 4 Top Player Performances of the Week

Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!

Tray Wilson Turns in Season-Best Performance

Central was led to victory by Tray Wilson, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Wilson rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, and also picked up 76 receiving yards and a touchdown. The effort marked the most rushing yards he has had since back in August of 2023. He torched the secondary when he pulled down a catch that went for 72 yards.

If the past is any indication, Wilson could be in store for another big game when he takes on Chesterfield on Friday. When Wilson last faced the Golden Rams back in October of 2023, he picked up 99 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 78 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries.

Cam Mcclendon Goes Supernova in Cheraw Victory

Cheraw picked up their third consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Cam McClendon. McClendon was unstoppable, rushing for 123 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. He has become a key player for Cheraw: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise.

If history really does repeat itself, McClendon might just drop another big game when he faces off against Buford on Thursday. Back in October of 2023 (the last time McClendon saw the Yellow Jackets), he rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries.
