Baseball Game Preview: Hopkins Royals vs. Waconia Wildcats

The Hopkins Royals will venture away from home to face off against the Waconia Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopkins' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Waconia's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Saturday, Hopkins sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over St. Louis Park. The Royals haven't had any issues with the Orioles recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Waconia never let their opponents score on Saturday. Everything went their way against Eden Prairie as they made off with an 8-0 victory.

Waconia has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hopkins, their record now sits at 6-7.

Hopkins couldn't quite get it done against Waconia when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 12-9. Can the Royals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
