Softball Game Preview: Rockwood Rockets vs. Windber Ramblers

Rockwood is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will host the Windber Ramblers at 4:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Rockwood not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 2, 2024. Everything went their way against Greater Johnstown as Rockwood made off with an 11-1 victory.

Sydney Beals made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Beals is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Brown, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Brown is crushing it when it comes to hits: she's got at least three every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Miley Pletcher, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Windber, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They walked away with a 10-6 win over Richland on Monday.

Rockwood's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Windber, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Rockwood skirted past Windber 11-10 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will Rockwood repeat their success, or does Windber has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
