Softball Recap: King George Beats Caroline for Their Eighth Straight Victory

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but King George ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past the Caroline Cavaliers 8-7. The victory was nothing new for the Foxes as they're now sitting on eight straight.

Kelsea Minter made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Kallie Slovack was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Summer Stowers was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

King George pushed their record up to 12-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Caroline, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-4.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. King George will take on rival Spotsylvania at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Foxes 3.9, the Knights 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Caroline is set to face off against their familiar foe Courtland at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
